Last week, there was a theft at the Los Angeles area home of actor Cary Elwes. An inquiry is currently underway.
Cary Elwes is having problems in his own castle since he reported numerous things missing from his house, and authorities believe there may have been an inside job.
The ‘Princess Bride’ star is the most recent celebrity to become a victim of a recurrent crime wave in Los Angeles, law enforcement sources tell TMZ. The actor discovered a large sum of money, artwork, and jewelry gone from his Malibu mansion.
Cary’s lost belongings are reportedly valued in the six figures, or over $100k, according to those with firsthand knowledge. The current working idea, according to what we’ve been told, is that this isn’t a smash-and-grab operation, unlike the recent spate of celebrity home thefts.
Rather, police say they think that one of Cary’s home staff members may have taken the goods from his residence over a period of time, potentially years, and it remained unnoticed until now. According to our sources, Cary reported the missing items to the police after realizing that a number of items were missing, however it’s unclear what finally caused him to notice this.
For Cary, the invasion of his home must seem like a cruel joke; after all, we broke the story of his rattlesnake bite in April 2022, which required emergency medical airlifting.
We’ve been informed that the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department is looking into the claimed theft. We’ve contacted Cary, but we haven’t heard back yet.
