Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, has been banned for one match and fined Rs 30 lakh by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his team’s slow over-rate offence in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He will miss the first match of the next IPL season.

Mumbai Indians failed to complete their overs within the allotted time frame during their match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Pandya has been penalized for the third slow over-rate offence by a captain in the IPL 2024 season.

The rest of the Mumbai Indians players in the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each fined Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser

.Pandya is the second captain after Rishabh Pant of the Delhi Capitals to be penalized with a one-match ban for a slow over-rate offence in IPL 2024. Pant missed the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore due to the suspension.

Despite the ban, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in the match.
