A Few Behind-the-Scenes
To get down to the point, Homi Adajania, the filmmaker, has produced superior thrillers (check out Being Cryus) and movies than Netflix’s most recent release, Murder Mubarak. Pankaj Tripathi, who serves as our point of view in this mystery drama, opens the film. He introduces us to a number of eccentric and snooty members of the venerable Royal Delhi Club.
The casting director of Murder Mubarak has assembled a respectable ensemble that even includes some very talented actors, including Vijay Varma, Pankaj Tripathi, Karisma Kapoor, and Tisca Chopra. However, there is less meat on their characters than there is bone. Additionally, it doesn’t help that performers like Sara Ali Khan occasionally overact—bordering on hamming—in an attempt to make her character seem real to us.
