Along with six additional honors, including Best Director (Christopher Nolan), Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Best Original Score, Best Film Editing, and Best Cinematography, were won by the historical drama.
With the Oscar victory, Oppenheimer’s stellar awards season comes to a conclusion. He won best picture at the Critics Choice, BAFTA, PGA, SAG, Golden Globe, and DGA awards.
But Oppenheimer’s impact extended beyond the awards season. As of the time this article was written, it had made little over $950 million worldwide at the box office. In addition, it and Barbie, its accomplice in the Barbenheimer crime, rose to fame in pop culture. Barbie, on the other hand, only won one award—Best Original Song—for “What Was I Made For.” Oppenheimer really could not be stopped this year.
